Our story

Handmade Village Risoukyo opened its iris garden in 1988 (Showa 63), then added lupine, peony and wild plant gardens, and has grown into a flower garden where you can enjoy meals and hands-on activities surrounded by nature.

In the name Risoukyo, "Ri" (鯉) is the koi carp in our ponds, "Sō" (艸) means grasses, the plants and flowers of the garden, and "Kyō" (郷) means a home village: it carries our wish to make this place an ideal village, a utopia.
